Dreamcatcher Heads To KCON Germany 2024 As Europe Dates Continue
Dreamcatcher returned to Europe and to KCON this past week, and the inaugural Germany edition of the event held many memorable moments from the group.
Europe has been a frequent destination for Dreamcatcher over the years and is one of the group's most consistent travel targets over the course of their career. From being one of the group's first destinations on tour when they were only just starting to travel in late 2017- early 2018 all the way up til this year's 2024 Europe tour, Dreamcatcher has a lot of appreciation for Europe and all the destinations they've been to in it. So it comes as no surprise that as part of the inaugural KCON Germany 2024 event, Dreamcatcher ended up being in the lineup and that they'd return to Germany in particular, one of their most frequent stops. Dreamcatcher's return to a KCON event capped off a relatively quiet week for them, but with prep for that travel no doubt happening in the background, it was still likely quite busy for them. Let's take a look at this past week's Dreamcatcher updates!
The official YouTube channel was relatively calm this past week, but we did see a video from one of Dreamcatcher's other European locations earlier this month with a Note on Istanbul. More than being in a unique environment and having to deal with a bit of inclement weather, this was essentially Siyeon's first live performance concert back in action, and it was nice to see her interacting and being her funny self with Dreamcatcher once again. I'm hoping that we see Dreamcatcher back here again and that the event proved lucrative for all involved - it seemed like a great show, and featuring Dreamcatcher as an honest-to-god headliner is very much in tune with rock-style bookings.
I've also been meaning to call out the short videos the channel has been posting about tour stops and gigs lately, and the latest one summarized the Latin America tour quite succinctly while the calm vibes of b-side "Alldaylong" played in the background. I really feel like these quick looks into things are a good way for busier people like myself to get a sense of the sights and sounds of a recent gig, so seeing this (and of course being impressed again by Latin American fans' passion and excitement) was great.
The somewhat early departure of Dreamcatcher to Frankfurt in Germany confirmed that Dami, who'd been sidelined for the Latin America tour due to illness, was back in action and ready to perform at the event. The long flight and ability to rest before the weekend's event was likely to help keep the group frosty and ready to perform, but as usual they were more than happy to greet their fans who awaited them before their travel.
That didn't stop them from taking a quick peek around and enjoying a bit of R&R in Frankfurt, and the few images we did see from SuA's Intagram account showed at least four of them hit up the local shops and sights.
But of course, seeing fans and performing in Germany as part of the KCON Germany 2024 program was the highlight of the week, and while KCON will likely not be officially uploading video content of these to the channel right away, we did see quite a bit from social media as well as from the free livestreams the organizers were offering on the KCON Official channel (with the option to pay for more events). Day 1 of KCON Germany saw Dreamcatcher participate in the KCON Stage and Meet & Greet, where they performed two songs from each of their last two albums for a total of 4. "OOTD", "Rising", "STΦMP!" and "JUSTICE" were received quite well, and curiously enough, the backing track on the livestream appeared to be turned down enough to hear the group singing clearly with their vocals on display, which was a nice touch.
And for "STΦMP!" in particular, Dreamcatcher made the decision to go down from the stage and past the barricades, leading to some fun footage of interactions. Long-time Dreamcatcher fans and reactors Differently Alike were in the crowd, and one of them, Esosa, even got a hug from SuA. Whether it was going past and singing to the audience in Seoul or heading to the stage from the back in Nashville, Dreamcatcher has provided moments like these for fans, and safety allowing, I hope they never stop doing so since these are unforgettable memories.
We're slated to see a bit more from Dreamcatcher for Day 2 of KCON Germany 2024 which is going on right as I'm hitting submit on this post from last week, including a new special stage to add to their KCON performances with a cover of SEVENTEEN's "Rock with you". For all that day 2 coverage and more from this week, I'll see you here next Sunday!
