Dreamcatcher Members Hit The Road As ChRocktikal And UAU Set To Meet Fans On Tour

Touring has been in Dreamcatcher's blood since the beginning of their time together, from bucking the trend of waiting to tour til popular to go to South America in their first year all the way up to the present, where outside of the obvious pandemic years, they've been on the road annually. They were essentially built with this in mind, and seeing them travel and perform has been one of my recurring things to look forward to during the course of my fandom. And for practical business reasons, it makes sense, too - between the benefits, multiple shows, and merchandise, tours have been a force multiplier in terms of revenue.

That time has come again, as we've seen both ChRocktikal and UAU confirm and have plans to head out to Europe and the United States, respectively, in the coming season. That's obviously not the only news that has hit these past couple weeks, so let's dig right in!

I do want to start by pointing out that JiU, SuA, Siyeon, and Yoohyeon are not the only ones traveling to perform for fans soon. Handong, who I previously reported was going to have more fan concerts in the future, released a couple of concept videos for "Mirror of a Midsummer Night". The idea certainly takes from mythical figures like Titania, queen of the fairies, and though they're short, the videos are shot in high quality and highlight a sort of ethereal visual for Handong herself. I'm hopeful her next concert will be as successful if not more so than the first, but these little media pieces help with the presentation for sure. Her recent Instagram live with fans mentioned this, her time with all the other Dreamcatcher members, and more as well, and she continues to be the busiest of those that chose not to renew contracts.

ChRocktikal's new album dropped recently, and you can check out the full details of what I thought of it in my "Bloom&Gloom" album review. I've had title track "REQUIEM" on loop for a while, and might even put it into an MV of my own at some point, but it's a fun and energetic rock anthem that has lots of catchiness to it.

As more of an indie rock band project, traditionally thought-of K-Pop promotion activities aren't really ChRocktikal's style, as we saw during their debut period, so producing content around the album has been more of an in-house thing. One of the better treats is having the traditional "dance challenge" videos be turned instead into a "vocal challenge" with the "REQUIEM" chorus. If you haven't checked out the official ChRocktikal YouTube channel's Shorts section, you should, as there has been a wonderful mix of well-known, vocally talented, and really cool vocalists that have come through, including 2NE1's Sandara Park, Dreamcatcher producer Ollounder, and, as shown above, Yoohyeon.

We also got to see some behind-the-scenes content and a nice surprise from dingo music, who've always been stalwart Dreamcatcher supporters, inviting Siyeon to sing "REQUIEM" on their "TEXTED" series. Not only did I get to continue to practice reading and following hangul, but I was treated to Siyeon's great vocals on the track as well - a true two-fer.

Of course, anyone who is in Europe or traveling to it wanting to hear Siyeon's vocals along with the talented instrumentation of Wonseok, Junyoung, and Gwanwoo need only attend one of the shows on ChRocktikal's current tour through the continent. They've hit up two shows so far, and I'm certain the fans have enjoyed hearing the whole new album (as well as the debut tracks) live and in stereo.

On the home front, UAU has continued to wrap up fansigns for their July "Your Youth" album, and we've gotten a few bits of individual content as well. Yoohyeon vlogged about her recent fan meeting in Guangzhou, spending a decent amount of that time trying out some rock climbing as well as getting her workout in before meeting up with excited fans in China. Between this and a Weverse live, she's definitely been out and about checking in with everyone lately.

SuA's expanded her YouTube content a bit lately, and besides being live on the channel every so often for some extended conversation with fans, some of the videos she's put up are slice of life vlogs that are fun to watch. One of her recent uploads has been a housewarming party video with friends. Long-time Dreamcatcher fans likely recognize SuA's hangout pals by now - Performance Director Sooyeon, CLC member Seungyeon, and actress friend Suna - but it was nice to see them all together in a more casual setting just having fun in SuA's new place and being their chaotic serlves.

But if I ever want to relax and take it easy, I know I can always count on JiU's YouTube channel, which is already a month old and yet has quite a few ASMR-ish cooking videos. Her most recent one was one for curry, and while I've got some of my own experience with making it, I always tend to do so in clothes that I'm not afraid might get something on them. Not the case for our brave self-professed cooking rookie JiU, who fearlessly wore some Hello Kitty PJs as she put together the recipe for the first time. It was also nice to see JiU unafraid of including, in high-quality video, her mistakes - like scooping the rice not-so-neatly and overflowing her glass just a bit with her ginger syrup and sparkling water combo. Give me an imperfect process over a clean and flawless video every time, as most of us humans tend to make lots of mistakes doing stuff the first time.

As for what they've been up to together, UAU's latest group upload looked to be a part-variety, part-drama-ish video that seemed to continue off of the fun "interview avatar" video from a while back. Turns out that the three of them are playing characters in a sense, and the above video is a continuation from all being hired as employees at their "new" company. There's a fun bit of reality show parody and k-drama callbacks in here, as individual Q&As that were totally not audible to everyone else and mini plot points like "who's the one related to the boss" and Yoohyeon being carefree with her timeliness as a former model were played up for the cameras. But there was also some fun stuff related to the game, a real-life depiction of popular game Meccha Chameleon, where you paint yourself the same color as something in the background to not be found. There were figurines to be found in this version, and having all three UAU members exhibit the fun personalities they've given us over the years as Dreamcatcher was, as always, entertaining. Poor JiU, though - between mafia or NBA 2k series, she doesn't seem to have much luck with games, but always takes it in stride.

No matter the outcome of their competition with each other, Dreamcatcher UAU is taking their talents on the road again, following up with what will certainly be after ChRocktikal's Europe tour with one of their own through the United States in the Fall. Since this is a Leo Presents tour, we can likely expect something similar to the ChRocktikal early summer tour, with a slew of cities and dates spread out over the course of a month or so. That also guarantees a lot more content to be generated for the Fall, as UAU creates more core memories with fans and showcases their newest tracks live for the first time as well.
