October 2024 seems to be the month of girl group comebacks in K-Pop, with as many as 8 groups vying for attention. Normally, I wouldn't be surprised if Dreamcatcher was right there in the mix looking to bring their own unique brand of music to the fray, but a busy schedule on all sides has contributed to the group likely breaking their "at least 2 comeback a year" streak from debut.

Instead, we've been treated to performances and related content from multiple regions, as Dreamcatcher has hit up Latin America for their first tour there since 2018 and Europe for a variety of event appearances. This past week, Dreamcatcher returned back to the homefront for the 30th Dream Concert, an event they've attended many times in the past and as always, they delivered. Here's the news on that and everything else that happened with the group this past week!

KCON Germany 2024 is in the books, yet their official channel was quick to remind us that Dreamcatcher was one of many awesome artists at the event. The free content they've put out included performances from the KCON stage of the event, and Dreamcatcher didn't disappoint with the live vocals and concert-like interactions that they're well-known for. I recommend checking out the vids for b-sides "STฮฆMP!" and "Rising", as they're a bit less common to find with official video and audio as others, but you can check out recent title track hits "OOTD" and "JUSTICE" as well.

The official YouTube channel dropped the other part of their Dreamcatcher's Note series on the recent Latin American tour. As always I've found these fun and interesting over the years because it isn't just the same kinds of behind-the-scenes stuff over and over - I always find something fun that is distinct to the tour that I can appreciate.

In this case, it was the circumstances surrounding the surprise birthday party they threw for Siyeon at the last concert, a full couple of weeks before her actual birthday. JiU almost accidentally and loudly spoiling that there was a birthday cake for Siyeon, along with Siyeon herself explaining that she thought the venue played the wrong song for her to dance to, were both insightful and funny. A reflection by Yoohyeon that they passed their 10th anniversary of being idols (counting their previous incarnation as MINX) was a nice reminder that Dreamcatcher has resilience that few groups in their generation can claim. All in all, yet another nice Note to close out their Latin America travels.

The official Dreamcatcher Twitter account also announced a 2nd recruitment for the 3rd generation fanclub, to go from the 18th to the 23rd of October. If you've been on the fence or missed out on the 1st recruitment period, this is your chance to get in on priority on domestic events (if local) and the fankit (if you're global), so be sure to make your purchase soon.

Looking forward, we got a couple of fun promotional items for Dreamcatcher's upcoming US tour in November. Soompi worked up some handwritten tour profiles for the group to fill out, talking about songs to hype up the crowd, favorite foods, things to shop for on tour and more. These are always nice insights with a bit of humor in them (Yoohyeon's answer to hyping the crowd and JiU's answer about a memorable food item, for example), but they're also a reminder that the group's bread and butter for every year excluding the pandemic years was touring. Dreamcatcher are tried-and-true touring veterans, so a questionnaire about what they typically do on them just seemed to make sense.

DIVE Studios has been releasing occasional shorts with Dreamcatcher over the past month, and they appeared to cap things off with a "This or That" game and a short promotion of their own for the US tour. "This or That" is a pretty common variety game I've seen with K-Pop artists, but DIVE has experienced editors that seem to understand the zooms, meme sounds, and zoom ins that accompany much of the short form content you see out there these days. This made stuff like Dami hesitating to answer whether she dips or pours sauces or Gahyun wondering how realistic it is to fight 1 on 100 funnier than normal. Like other fans I'm hoping for a full video in the future, but for now I'm pleased to see DIVE continues the connection they established with Dreamcatcher from back in 2021 with Eric Nam's interview.

Tour merchandise for the upcoming US tour was also announced, with a couple of new items including a tour city shirt and official lightstick keyring. Some of these are likely to sell out quickly, so if you're attending the tour, be sure to target the items you're looking for and make arrangements accordingly.

Of course, the highlight that capped off this past week was Dreamcatcher's appearance at the 30th Dream Concert. This one held a bit more significance to the group because of them winning the Dream Visual category for female artists, a fan-voted initiative from the summer that earned them a headliner spot near the end of the event. The Red Carpet saw Dreamcatcher receive this award and provided fans with some new looks - Dami sporting a new red hair coloring while Handong and Yoohyeon now had various shades of brown.

As for their performance, their choices of most recent hit "JUSTICE" and high energy concert mainstay "Scream" were excellent, showing off how Dreamcatcher continues to be extremely good at live singing while doing aggressive choreography. As the second-to-last artist to perform, Dreamcatcher had to make sure the fans kept up the energy after hours of other artists, and they did so. There was also a nice touch at the end of "Scream" where SuA deviated from singing the track to asking the audience to scream, which perhaps might be a preview of what we'll see on the US tour in a couple weeks.

Whether or not this event continues to be held remains to be seen (the organizing Korea Enertainment Producers Association entity referred to difficulty in getting 1st and 2nd generation artists and venue costs as contributing factors to a possible end to the annual event) but either way, Dreamcatcher has made its mark on it with the appearances they've made on it, including this most recent one. And with this performance in the books, there's nothing between Dreamcatcher and their travels into the US this November. For all that upcoming news and more, I'll see you here next Sunday!
