Dreamcatcher Returns Home For Brief Schedule With Australia Return On The Horizon

Dreamcatcher drops by Daejeon to submit another great performance as they prep for their trip to the Oceania region in just under a week.

While Dreamcatcher has been long-known as a group more focused on (and well-traveled to) the global market, in the end they are still a South Korean-based K-Pop girl group. There's something to be said about the comfort and familiarity of domestic schedules and events, and as Dreamcatcher prepares to finish off their Luck Inside 7 Doors World Tour in Australia and Taipei, that's exactly what Dreamcatcher engaged in this past week. Let's take a look!

Two weeks ago we got a surprise content drop from Siyeon and Nexon, the developers behind long-standing action game Elsword, in the form of a brand new OST song for their latest content update. This past week saw the song release across a variety of platforms for listening, though unfortunately for the most part it seems region-restricted. The link above comes from their music publisher, so there's at least one place to check out Siyeon's power vocals on what's become an occasional loop on my own playlist. It's been a minute since we had anything to lend evidence to the whole "Dreamcatcher could do an anime OST" idea, so I was pleased to see this drop regardless of availability.

Speaking of games, we had Dami try out her hand at the whole gaming livestream business via her birthday broadcast on YouTube. The group has always been entertaining when playing games, especially when they're with fans, and Dami was no different here - though I think we could have known that based on her attempted thievery in JiU's Animal Crossing session. The games of choice were Pico Park 2, a 2D action co-op puzzle title, and Hide & Chick, a competitive hide and seek game.

It's times like this where I'm appreciative of Dreamcatcher's size of fandom - not to small so as not to have much interest but not too large to have more of a chance of something not-so-great happen. This kind of flexibility means that fans can get in on sessions like Dami's and still have a great time, even in a game where you have to essentially kill one another. I would like to think that like Gahyun's gaming livestream, the fans would take it easy on Dami during Hide & Chick, but there was no such luck this time around. For her part I think Dami had a fun time playing games with fans, so perhaps we'll see more of this from her in the future.

The group's main focus this past week was preparing for and ultimately performing at Daejeon's Tree Hundred Festival, an event focused on climate change and sustainable practices - something that Dreamcatcher, with their Apocalypse series, is quite familiar with. We didn't see "MAISON" performed for this festival, but did get a four-song medley of some of Dreamcatcher's best stage songs, with "Scream", "BOCA", "REASON", and "BONVOYAGE" taking center stage.

A bonus from this appearance was that Sunmi, who performed afterwards and who long-time Sunmi fan Yoohyeon got to interact with a few years back, was able to say hello to them briefly. With other connections to fellow performers such as EXID's Solji and Oh My Girl's Arin, it's possible there were other hellos and conversations as well, making this a worthwhile appearance from both a backstage and performance perspective.

The trip back from Daejeon to Seoul isn't a short one (just over an hour or so), so some of Dreamcatcher did manage to drop in on livestream to chat with fans briefly, with Siyeon checking in on Instagram (a platform she seems to be more interested in lately) and Yoohyeon and Gahyun hitting up Weverse.

It's been a while since we had lives straight from the cars that ferry Dreamcatcher around to local schedules, and nobody seemed to miss a beat for how random they sometimes got. Seeing Siyeon insult a fortune-telling AI and Yoohyeon wearing some of Gahyun's hair extensions reminded fans that for as much as Dreamcatcher exudes serious fierceness on stage, they're always guaranteed to be goofy and funny off of it.

Dreamcatcher reminded us that spring is here, and with it comes an upcoming month of travel, tour memories, and killer performances. In just a few short days, the group heads off to the land Down Under for the first time since 2019, and as always, I'll be here with the latest news and updates - for all that and more, I'll see you here next Sunday!
