As the New Year starts, quite a few K-Pop groups tend to take a beat before beginning activities in the new year, as the rush of holidays and end-of-year shows gets to be in the rear view mirror. Yet I've never really felt that way when it came to Dreamcatcher. Between early birthdays and the group's debut anniversary happening on January 13th, fans have always had something to look forward to content-wise from the group pretty much right away.

Though the group's members are all involved in subunit and solo projects now, it seems that they're going to nevertheless keep up the tradition of feeding their fans with new stuff to get excited about. Here's some of the latest on what Dreamcatcher's been up to!

Handong continued her busy end of the year, and continued to take advantage of her newfound contract with Modern Sky to broker an appearance at the Sohu Video Dance Festival. For this event, Handong seemed to be doing it all, from red carpet to awards and presentations, to the above, which involved Random Play Dance with ex-EVERGLOW member Yiren.

I've personally associated Random Play Dance as a K-Pop thing even though I'm fairly sure it has its roots in more than just that, but it was nice to see some familiar songs, especially "Odd Eye" from 2021, which ensured that even as busy as she has been with so many new things she's done, Handong is still thinking about Dreamcatcher.

The Dreamcatcher-related content Handong dropped in wasn't even perhaps the one that was most talked about, either. Dami's been releasing some behind-the-scenes and other video content on her personal YouTube channel, and she brought over her "Off The Record" vlog series. In a fun and heartwarming treat, Dami included in her inaugural vlog her outing with pretty much all of Dreamcatcher (Yoohyeon appeared to be on family vacation). The brief shots, which included Siyeon and Handong making brief appearances with the others' voices interspersed, was Dreamcatcher fan comfort food, and a reminder of all the fun restaurant outings we've seen the group participate in over the years. As always, one of the most encouraging things we've seen with the group is that they've been constantly in touch and in each other's content this past year, and I don't see that diminishing any time soon.

I think I heard Gahyun's voice in Dami's recent vlog saying that it had been a while since she'd danced. Part of that might have been because she's been busy doing photoshoots instead. Her upcoming "Love Letter" photobook began taking pre-orders over the holidays, but I hadn't really thought of just how much or what type of material would be in the book til I began seeing some of the pictures (and in this case, video) of what she's going to be showing fans. It's not like Gahyun is a stranger to horses (after all, one did appear in Dreamcatcher's "BONVOYAGE" video albeit with Yoohyeon), but it was still actually pretty neat to see this be integrated into the shoots. Of all the Dreamcatcher members, Gahyun appears to be the only one not doing something related to music, but if all the teasers are to be believed, it'll be made up for in the visual media that'll be in the upcoming book for sure.

The early part of the year always kicks off for Dreamcatcher fans with a Yoohyeon birthday livestream on January 7th, and this year didn't disappoint. The Dreamcatcher Lead Vocal and UAU subunit member (sometimes leader, depending on the month) put in the time for an hour-plus livestream for fans just this past week, capping off early year fansigns

Yoohyeon's been known to do something fun and interesting for her birthday livestreams, but this time around she brought back an old favorite - a cooking/baking livestream. Long-time fans will notice how significant this was, because last time Yoohyeon did anything food-related on livestream, it ended up a hilarious miscue with too much baking soda leading to a dalgona eruption. It took four years, but Yoohyeon seemed determined to redeem herself by making some Dubai chocolate style chewy cookies. There were plenty of fun moments, including Siyeon calling in to support and poke a little fun at Yoohyeon and the faces she made when taste-testing things, but overall I'd call it a success. Trust me as someone who is a sometime-baker and who has made some rough-looking dishes - it really mostly matters if it tastes good not if it looks good.

But it's not like UAU has been idle, either. Fansigns for their first Season's Greetings package along with a recent end-of-year concert stop in Macau highlighted the subunit's work heading into 2026. If I've learned anything about UAU's live appearances this past year, it's that there never seems to be a dull moment and the closer knit, informal feel has become a core part of their brand. We'll have to see what they have in store for fans in 2026, but as they've referred to recording new music since August, we might not have to wait too long.

Siyeon may have had the most recent cameo appearances in other Dreamcatcher members' content, but she's also been gearing up for her own coming up real soon. Her band Chrocktikal set a release date for their debut 1st album of January 15th. It's a little bit of a question mark as to how specifically the band is going to promote themselves, though two initial small shows in indie venue Club FF have already sold out for the upcoming rookies.

And while fans knew that this would be chock-full of new music (twelve tracks, one of which is exclusive to the physical vinyl album), having the actual track list pop up just built up the hype all the more, adding to an already-full pre-debut schedule of individual and group teasers. The 15th can't come soon enough, and I'm hoping to have a full album review up on all of the new Chrocktikal tracks at some point once I have a chance to listen to what will likely be in my wheelhouse of harder rock sound. For all that and more, I'll see you here next time!
