Dreamcatcher Flexes Individual Activities As February Arrives

As February 2026 rolls in, Dreamcatcher's members have focused in on new individual activities and work, keeping fans up-to-date and assured that they continue to be busy.

Hey you! Like what you're reading on The Low Key Geek? Consider subscribing (for free or paid) at the bottom of this article, or if you prefer, you can just tip me to help support blog hosting costs. Already a subscriber? I appreciate you and your support - think about linking or signal-boosting this article to others who are interested in my content. I'd appreciate any constructive comments you have as well. I produce more than just Dreamcatcher content - you can expect occasional but regular articles about games, K-Pop as a whole, and more!

A quick note before I start - thanks to everyone who reads, and also to those who are paid subscribers or tippers (I recently received a pretty generous tip and a multi-month subscription, which is awesome). I know I've reduced the cadence of writing lately - mostly due to more important personal matters that I continue to give priority to, but that I'm seeing people stick with me and even help pay for my web hosting costs through subscription or tips is great. My plan is to keep writing, and perhaps with a bit more varied content in the arenas that I've promised (K-Pop, games, community management) and every bit of support, whether monetary or not, is appreciated. Spread the word if you can - I've been at it for six years now and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Frankly, that's the kind of attitude that I think I've seen the members of Dreamcatcher exude lately when it comes to content. I think it's natural for fans to worry, when the group is no longer all under contract, that individual member activities and attempts to spread one's wings and fly on one's own might not all meet with the same level of success. Yet I think that part of that success comes from personal motivation and dedication, especially if the means are more humble, and that's certainly part and parcel for Dreamcatcher. They've never had any reason to not soldier on even when the odds were against them as a group, so I don't really expect they wouldn't do that when they do things solo or in subunits, either. That's what they showed us these past couple weeks, so let's take a look at how things have gone lately!

I talked a lot about ChRocktikal during the last update, and since then Siyeon's brand new band project has played another show at Hongdae's Club FF. The sound problems from last time appeared to have been fixed (as I knew they would be), and a slightly different, yet no less energetic set accompanied this second show. It looks like Siyeon busted out the hair extensions for this one, but seemed to be no less comfortable performing for everyone in such a close-quarters setting. In fact, I'd argue this is really where Siyeon seems to shine, especially doing something that she's passionate about.

I think it's also pretty fun to see the other members of ChRocktikal get a little bit used to some of the idol-like stuff despite being a band, such as with the few fansigns they've participated in. Are we seeing a bit of spontaneity and perhaps in some cases a breaking of the "no spoilers" code from guys like Guanwoo or Wonseok, who've apparently said where they'd like to go (Brazil, yay!) and where there may be currently no plans to go (No EU at this time, boo!)? Yeah, for sure. But is it endearing to see the other members get used to this kind of interaction and establish themselves as not just "Siyeon and friends"? Also yes. They'll get the hang of it eventually, but starting out as small as when Dreamcatcher was when they debuted will help.

And if it wasn't already confirmed that the band was taking a smaller-scale, more indie approach, that's being reflected in the group's next booking, which is to take place at Hongdae's Rolling Hall later this month for the venue's 31st Anniversary Concert. ChRocktikal joins a bunch of other similarly indie-type band acts, and the venue is similarly sized to Club FF as well. Being in a multi-artist event will no doubt be a chance for ChRocktikal to network and get to know their peers a bit better, so I'm looking forward to seeing fancam footage and perhaps just a bit of behind-the-scenes as well.

UAU continues to be curiously quiet and behind the curtain about their current work, though I'd hazard a guess part of that is strategic on Dreamcatcher Company's part in order to maximize attention to ChRocktikal at the moment. But that doesn't mean that they've been idle about a little front-of-camera work either. Yoohyeon opened up a new TikTok channel for herself, and if you've been paying attention for any amount of time over the years, you probably know that Dreamcatcher's Lead Vocalist has been the creative mind behind lots of the short video content that's been put up over the years. So it comes to no surprise that Yoohyeon went this route, which seems to fit her busy schedule while also dropping in a bit of individual flair to her presence online. Of course, a couple of her initial videos feature other Dreamcatcher members like Siyeon, but I look forward to some of the solo stuff as well - such as her mini-makeover/cosplay as Nana Osaki from the well-known series NANA.

For a more persistent presence with reach for long-form video, however, you probably can't go wrong with YouTube these days (heck, I'm even thinking of trying to get some content off the ground on there as well). That's probably part of why we saw a surprise launch for SuA's new YouTube channel, bearing the same name as her Instagram (sualelbora). Filmed from her home, SuA started out pretty standard with a nice little Q&A based on questions she took from fans.

SuA's vlog content has always been interesting to me because she's been casual about some of her offday activities, like a vacation trip with friends or how she shops and cooks for the group after a radio broadcast, back when they lived together. This was a bit safer - and perhaps even quieter - than what we're used to from SuA, but there was a bit of that loud personality that came out when she was teasing fans about the kinds of questions they were asking. Supposedly, the next video will be different, so we'll just have to wait and see what SuA, who I've always felt was well-suited to variety-type content, has come up with.

SuA was also doing a bit of work this past week as well, at a brief appearance at the 2026 Seoul Fashion Show. I don't think I've ever seen SuA in what appeared to be a velvet outfit before, but the dark color and shorter hair seemed to work well for her as she headed to the photo/press area, then sat and did a couple of short bits of content for outlets and likely, for her vlog. We've only seen brief glimpses of Fashion Show behinds for prior Dreamcatcher content, so seeing this from SuA's perspective will no doubt be interesting.

Yet I think for all the individual activity the group has been engaged in these last couple of weeks, I think youngest member Gahyun deserves the most mention and interest. Dreamcatcher's maknae has had a busy February, between celebrating her birthday, participating in her first solo fansign for the release of her photobook "Love Letter", and finally, after talking about it for months, launching and premiering her individual YouTube channel, named Gahtoni.

I think people have been curious about what Gahyun has been up to, mostly because the other members of Dreamcatcher have done a bunch of solo or subunit activities, or have otherwise started down the road towards some new horizons, while Gahyun had mostly been talking briefly about her acting aspirations and classes but otherwise was content to post travel or vacation or brief photoshoot stuff. There wasn't exactly worry, per se, but perhaps a bit of fretting from Dreamcatcher fans about details about what road Gahyun was forging for herself.

It's only been a couple videos in, but it seems like Gahyun's thoughts about her own YouTube content will be in some of the same vein as a few other, more casually set idol or ex-idol channels, which tend to be more cavalier about the whole idea of "idol image". Gahyun seemed to set the tone with the first video, which was set in a restaurant setting and which also had one of Dreamcatcher's long-time stylists come in as a guest and tell funny stories about Gahyun's time with the group. It's well worth a watch.

There was a lot of what I call "ruining the idol image" with all the teasing and casual storytelling (though still safe for her brand/content, of course), but also some details about Gahyun's thoughts regarding the group and after the post-exclusive contract era started last March. We found out, for example, that Gahyun seemed to get a slower start out of the gate because she chose to take a six-month break for herself to rest, heal, and reset, and that she experienced some sadness at last year's birthday cafe knowing that decisions had been made to not all renew with the company. If this is the kind of slight "peel back the curtain" insight we're to expect from the channel, I think that's great and it's a lane that we don't see many travel down even in post-idol content.

I know some fans tend to think the worst after they find out circumstances surrounding a major happening with a group (such as not being all exclusive any longer), but there was plenty of reassurance about Gahyun's enjoyment with both Dreamcatcher and participating in group content from her "behind" video from Dreamcatcher's 9th anniversary livestream.

Granted, I think long-time fans have been exposed to the fact that Dreamcatcher has been a bit more relaxed with their content and presentation to the camera (and thus with the chaos that accompanies much of their stuff), but this felt like on another level. I don't think we've ever seen so much of an apparent livestream location (it's unclear whether DCC re-did a floor for this or if this is elsewhere, but the point still stands) or of how they start or end their lives, and certainly not of the activities that can happen afterwards, such as eating and drinking together.

Besides that, there was a fun party game the group played that seemed to immediately get taken to a level that was most certainly not "safe for idol", so to speak, and I think this reflects well on A)Gahyun's potential future content and B)the group and company's recognition that they are older and thus should be presented as such - though I expect some things, like Siyeon's strange photogenic quirks, or Yoohyeon's alcohol lightweightness, will never be outgrown. The group was missing Handong, who was busy with activities back in China, but I have little doubt we may see some content on Gahyun's channel that will involve her old roommate in some way.

As if a fansign and YouTube channel wasn't enough, Gahyun's been attending or picking up a couple events and/or possible partnerships lately with Naming cosmetic and Photogray, so even though she, like Dami, has to independently work through her network, it seems she's beginning to pick up steam with her own activities. It's these, and everything else going on with Dreamcatcher lately that give me confidence we'll keep hearing from them regularly, and that I'll be writing about them for a decent bit of time to come. For all of that Dreamcatcher news, and more, I'll see you here next time!
